A Familial Familiar Feeling

A Familial Familiar Feeling

Psychic ability runs in the family. It is an inherited gift. You just never know where it will wind up.

I have spoken with a substantial number of people who had some form of intuitive or psychic ability and, almost always, reported to me that an older family member also had the gift.

The big issue for tracking this phenomenon arises from older generations being uncomfortable talking about it. When I was young, I learned from my dad that things would “pop into his head” randomly. He said this had happened since he was a boy. He knew when something random popped in his head, it had some kind of meaning.

My mother, on the other hand, never talked about her gift, until one day she saw my face on the cover of a publication announcing an event I was hosting in Cape May. I just never discussed my “other” career with her, but once she found out, she told me a story.

When she was about 6 years old, a medium came to her aunt’s house to do a small “circle” or group channeling. The medium placed her hand over my mother’s head and exclaimed, “This child has the gift! She could be a great medium someday.” My mother went screaming from her aunt’s house back to her house (a few blocks away) and hid under her bed. It was a little too much for a 6-year-old to hear!

Years later, my mom would talk about having a strong “feeling” that something was about to happen. She was usually right on the money with her predictions.

I do not know if any of my younger relatives have inherited any of our familial psychic ability, but I do know, from family stories, that some of my ancestors, a great-grandfather, a g-g grandmother and a great aunt, all had some form of ability. They had visions, dreams, and some even read cards.

For those reading this who feel they have some form of psychic or intuitive ability, do you know of older relatives, living or dead, who had the same?

I honestly believe the ability to predict things about to happen, to experience precognitive dreams of things to come, or to sense spirits, is a family affair.
