Psychic Parties vs. Group Channeling Sessions
Posted on March 12, 2012
I am frequently asked if I do “psychic parties” as opposed to group channeling sessions. The thought always brings to mind a fortuneteller in layers of shiny, exotically colored garments, wearing a sequined turban, passionately rubbing a large crystal ball. While the outfit might be appealing for Halloween, I tend to cringe when I hear the words “party psychic”. I have nothing against psychics that do parties, telling fortunes and predicting the sexes of the next-to-be-born. It’s just not what I do.
So, do I do “psychic parties?” My channeling groups could be called a party. It is a reconnecting between people here on the Earth and loved ones visiting from Heaven. While there are always moments when the tissue box gets passed around the room, most of the energy in my groups is typically upbeat and healing. As a medium, it’s my job to connect. I let the folks on the Other Side do the talking. They arrive, announce themselves, and then pick up where they left off when they died. They reconnect to let us know they are protecting and guiding us. They may offer advice to help us in current life situations. They bring love and humor, but rarely give away the sex of yet to be born babies or deliver foreboding prophecies. That’s not what this medium does. Everyone is different.
A psychic or medium should just not handle some topics. In my opinion, medical and legal advice needs to come from doctors and lawyers, not psychics and mediums. Finding that “special someone” in your life should not be the responsibility of your psychic or medium. Go online and find a dating service, it’s a lot faster! Many wonderful things come through in sessions with psychics and mediums, but some of the answers that people are looking for need to come from professional sources.
Psychic-medium. Psychic. Medium. What’s the difference? The main difference is a degree of ability. All mediums are psychic, but not all psychics are mediums. A psychic is a person who can sense energies around people and things. Some can foresee future events and past lives. A medium can usually do most of these things, but chooses to use his or her real gift to communicate with the dead.
There are two versions of “the dead” that a medium might deal with. First, there are the souls of loved ones who have crossed over to Heaven, and are back for a visit with their family and friends on the Earth. Second are the ghosts, those souls who have not (yet) crossed to the Other Side because something keeps the tethered to the earth plane. Emotional or material attachments, unfinished business, or an unexpected or traumatic death is what usually creates a ghost. Both of these types of “the dead” are souls. Some are free while other souls are “stuck.” Mediums can sense and often communicate with this type of sentient energy.
I have met some very gifted psychics and some incredibly talented mediums; both have a place in the light-working department. We all operate with different levels of ability, and specialize in different areas. As a medium, I tend to focus on communication with loved ones from Heaven first, followed by ghost investigation/communication, second. During some sessions, I may feel moved to mention some past life information or foresee some future (positive) events in a client’s timeline, but this is rare. I do not believe in doing prophecy. Life is best lived spontaneously. It needs to have some mystery and excitement. If we knew everything that was going to happen (as in being told future events) life would be a lot less exciting. Many people (including me) are also worriers, and we don’t need to be told that bad things are going to happen on such and such a date. There is enough to worry about in life. Some people actually enjoy a psychic session filled with disaster, warnings, and talk of dying. They subscribe to the “It’s my party and I’ll die if I want to” style of channeling. You will not find me hosting those parties.
I think these kinds of dark readings are what make some people fearful of working with a medium. One of the more common responses from people looking for psychic parties is they want psychic readings. They don’t want to talk to dead relatives. What many fail to understand is that our loved ones (or in some cases, not-so-loved ones) are around us and guiding us. They are in a position to give us the best advice, yet many shun their help. I can understand if someone had a bad relationship with a friend or relative who is now dead, that the thought of connecting with this person again may be unpleasant. However, many of our Spirit Guides were not our relatives during our lifetimes. Spirit Guides are the higher souls that a medium works with in sessions, and they are the ones who can really help. Not everyone who comes through in a session with a medium is someone you knew. So opting for a “psychic only” reading is depriving yourself of potential valuable guidance.
When I do a private session or a group session, I ask that positive energies come through. I let as much light in as possible. Loved ones coming through in a session may answer specific questions, but they won’t do the work for us. They are there to guide us, not live our lives. If you are interested in knowing past life information or if some future event is so important, you can always ask. I think our Spirit Guides know what information is best for each of us to hear.So many clients have enjoyed my group sessions that I often reference them as “a party”. Some go as far as to serve an elaborate spread of food and drink for their (living) friends to enjoy before, during and after the channeling session. The information that comes through in one of my groups is positive, healing, and sometimes even downright funny! As I mentioned above, all psychics and mediums work differently. There is a style and format for everyone. If you attend one of my groups, you may not find out if you are having a boy or a girl, or if you were Cleopatra in a past life, but you will walk away with a new perspective on life, and realize just how much help we do get—living it.
